Let’s face it- freelancing can be great. But it can also be super-duper NOT great. Cabin fever is always a concern of any freelancer. It would be nice to have an office, but who wants to make that commitment? Maybe the flow of work is inconsistent or you just don’t want to sign a lease someplace. But let’s be real people, the corner Starbucks just ain’t gonna cut it forever. You need some middle ground.

Imagine if you needed a professional space with reliable phones and internet. Or if you would just rather get out of your house to mentally and physically seperate what you do for work from what you do at home. Luckily for you if you live in San Francisco, their is a lively co-working community.

Groups of people going in on office space together with varying degrees of commitment. Craigslist is rife with people looking for such opportunities. And, as with any good idea, people have even taken the concept corporate. http://www.sandboxsuites.com is an example. It’s nice to not only get out of your apartment and away from your neighbors’ afternoon delight, your Xbox, or that god-aweful crying baby, but to also be in space where people around you are doing real work. Just knowing they are around will be enough to shame you into working yourself.
